Here's an interesting website to check out about how stained glass decays. Drew Anderson talks about the composition of glass and how it relates to its deterioration. He discusses pitting, crust formation and why, maybe we should all learn how to paint and silver stain. My surprise was the role of fungi. A good, quick read for those in conservation or not.
