Enamels and patina are not friends....

I work with enamels but find them an issue when used as part of of a piece that is leaded, soldered and with patina.

Any tricks to protect the painted enameled surface from the bite of the chemicals contained in the patina?

Hi . I'm not sure will it be the answer that you're looking for but from working with old glass the enamel is always on the other (outside) side of glass.
