Remembered Light: Glass Fragments from World War II

At the Washington State History Museum January 12 through March 2, 2008.

A breathtaking exhibition of glass art featuring shards of stained glass from sanctuaries damaged during World War II and the personal recollections of the U.S. Army chaplain who collected them. These stunning works of art reflect the despair and the hope, the destruction and the renewal that Chaplain Frederick McDonald experienced as he traveled through Europe with General Omar Bradley's 12th Army Group from 1944 to 1945. In all, 13 international glass artists created 25 windows in diverse media including ceramic, silk screen, vinyl, copper, and glass. Developed by the Frederick A. McDonald Foundation.
